WEB101 Week 7: Reflection

Hi all, this week's topic is all about Wiki's. Though we mainly focused on Wikipedia as an example of a Wiki, I would like to try find from anyone what other forms of wiki's people would use and what their purpose is for using them?
Some examples in why people would use Wiki's could be to collaborate one idea from many people. Sporting teams, charities, educational institutions and business' would benefit from using all sorts of Wiki's. One that I have used in the past is a mind mapping website where you can collaborate with other people and create a mind map about a topic of interest. Also in my current business, my business partner and I have played with a few different online calendars where we can both edit and add to and be able to see what either of us are doing on a particular day, so we can not overlap activities.
In the website www.inparenting.com.au, I would like to ask people what kind of Wiki would be beneficial for this website? Would the events link be better if it was a collaboration from users who could openly ad and update upcoming events without the administrator manually doing it them self? Would a Wiki where users can add their own articles in, similar to that of Wikipedia? Your thoughts are welcome.
In the activities for this week we were asked to check out Wikipedia and how it works. I edited the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnian_War and put in some external links to pages of interest for this topic.
Any thought's on benefits of Wiki's in your life are most welcome.
